The Verdala International School Malta (VIS) exists to facilitate educational processes through the medium of the English language that enable students of all nationalities to achieve their full potential in an environment that focuses on individual development and in which the school community participates.

School Environment:

  • All teachers are professionally qualified and experienced; a fifth of them have Masters Degrees or the equivalent.
  • Optimal class size is deemed to be 15 but classes are never larger than 17.  The current staff / student ratio is 1:7.
  • The School is composed of the original fort, Fort Pembroke, and two adjoining buildings which create a six acre campus.
  • There are two libraries – one for Elementary and one for the Secondary section of the School.  Both have internet access, automated card catalogues and CD ROM databases.
  • Each section of the school – Elementary, Middle and High – have their own modern computer laboratories with PC networked platforms.
  • There are three separate, well-equipped science laboratories for biology, chemistry and physics at the secondary level.
  • Verdala offers physical education classes which make full use of the School’s gymnasium, outdoor basketball court, and the nearby National Swimming Pool complex.
  • Extra curricular activities include basketball, volleyball, fencing, pottery, chess, drama and photography.
  • The Art, Music and Drama programmes are well developed and several drama productions are staged each year. Frequent use is made of field trips to the theatre, art exhibitions and concerts.
  • A school lunch programme offers a catered lunch which is available to students on a daily basis and purchased with cash.
